Bikes’n Bytes (Nelson), in partnership with Traction on Demand and Kootenay Mountain Biking

The best of both worlds! This biking & coding camp offers a fun, safe, educational and exciting introduction to computer coding and multi-discipline biking. This summer learn how to create your own website, program a robot, and edit a movie you filmed during your KMB bike sessions. Each day includes 3hrs of coding projects and 3hrs of cycling. All rental bike gear and computers are provided. Learn basic coding skills and explore new trails and skills on Nelson’s local mountain bike trails. Skills, games and rides!

Transport to cycling venues to arranged by Kootenay Moutain Biking. Bicycle storage is provided by Cycling BC. Open to ages 10-13, Skill Level 4-6,

All sessions are covered by Cycling BC’s insurance policy with Jones Brown.

This camp will include photograph and video collection to help participants create their own website and video content. A summary video of the week may also be published by ToD and Cycling BC and circulated amongst participants for their enjoyment. This summary video may also be used for 2019 camp advertising


How do I register my child?

  • STEP 1 – REGISTER HERE ($284 camp fee) – select from “Camps” dropdown menu
      • 12 spots for Boys (AM Biking + PM Coding)
      • 12 spots for Girls (PM Biking + AM Coding)
  • STEP 2 – Include either a Cycling BC Mini-Membership ($15) or a Full-Membership ($60)


Intermediate cycling skills are REQUIRED for this camp. Participants should be comfortable with the following:

  • ability to ride up a hill for 3 minutes
  • ability to exercise for 90 minutes
  • ability to ride a bike with 1 hand in a straight line
  • ability to lift the front wheel
  • ability to ride off sidewalk curb smoothly

Please carefully read Cycling BC Skill Levels before registering. This camp is for riders at level 4 and beyond.


To prepare, please bring the following:

  • Water, Lunch and snacks,
  • Gloves, All-weather clothing
  • Bike helmet
    • Rentals are available. Please tell us during the iRide forms
  • Bring a Mountain Bike
    • Rentals are available. Please tell us during the iRide forms
    • Conduct a bike safety check (try one of iRide’s registered bike shops)
